LOVE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM!

Feb. 28th 2008

Two of my favorite versions of our National Anthem are on You Tube. One is by a group of 5 little girls in Texas before a college basketball game. The other is Smokey Robinson in 1986 before Game 5 of the World Series.

Take a couple of minutes and enjoy! Eat your heart out Rosanne Barr.

THANKS VANDY! — Weekly Newsletter 2/27/08

Feb. 28th 2008

Adam Shepard arrived alone on the streets in Charleston, SC in the summer of 2006 with a sleeping bag, $25 in his pocket, no job, no friends, and no place to stay.

Shepard was a recent graduate of Merrimack College doing his own experiment on the American Dream.

His goal: to acquire a furnished apartment, a car, and $2,500 in savings within a year.

For the first 70 days, Shepard lived in a shelter and received food stamps. He also made new friends, and found work as a day laborer. That led to a steady job with a moving company.

As Peyton Manning asks in one of those MasterCard Priceless Pep talk commercials, “Bummed about that gut?”

Everyone has a trouble spot or trouble spots. Some people have a beer belly. Some have saddle bags, flabby arms, back fat, thigh fat, or love handles. Too many “jiggly” things.

A lot of people want to do extra crunches thinking the crunches will flatten their stomachs and give ’em a six pack.

I get a lot of these kinds of requests:
“Tony, can we do more triceps work today?”
“Sgt. Tony, what exercise can I do to get rid of THIS?” they ask as they grab one of those trouble spots.

WICKED WITCH — Weekly Newsletter 2/6/08

Feb. 6th 2008

The other day I talked to Kathryn Grissom.

Kathryn is a Boot Camper who had to take time off from BOOT CAMP in order to take care of a medical issue.

Kathryn had breast cancer.

“Had” being the operative word! Thank God!

Months have passed since she was initially diagnosed and treated … and now she’s cancer free, looks great, new do and all, and will soon return to BOOT CAMP!
