GENESIS 2:18 — Weekly Newsletter 12/27/07
Holiday Greetings Everyone!
Have you recovered from the Christmas rush and the visiting relatives?
Oh? YOU were the visiting relative?
Oh well, I’m sure they weren’t happy to see you go.
Anyway … are you ready to “lose weight in 2008?”
Did you see the finale of “The Biggest Loser” last week?
For those living in a cave, “The Biggest Loser” is a reality TV show about morbidly obese people’s struggles to lose weight and get in shape. The person who loses the highest percentage of weight wins $250,000! I watched it for the first time and thought it was truly amazing!
If I understand it right, the contestants live on the “campus,” some for up to 4 months, then return home. Three months later they have the big weigh-in, live on nationwide TV.
That’s the show I saw.
The transformation of these people’s outward appearance, though absolutely incredible, is probably second only to the unbelievable inward change in their minds, their complete emotional metamorphosis, and the total renovation of their self esteem.
The finale included clips of their initial interviews before they started the long process of weight loss and life gain.
Will you be a transformer in 2008? Will you be a life gainer? Will you discover new life through a new you gained through new health and fitness? Will 2007 be the last year you make excuses? Will 2008 be YOUR year of success and achievement?
As we close out 2007, will you join me in writing down goals for 2008 that also include a new you?
C’mon … if not now … when?
If not now … WHEN??
——————————
And now … let me change the subject. But it still falls under the “if not now, when?” category.
You remember my little plant, don’t you, the philodendron I was sure had died and was about to be thrown away?
Well, it continues to GROW!
It’s my reminder to keep hope alive.
Where there seemed to be no hope …
On November 9 I wrote a short newsletter that included, among other things, a little paragraph entitled “Don’t Save the Date.” In that paragprah I informed you that the love I had declared for Wendy Greenlaw was unrequited.
Remember that?
Where there seemed to be no hope …
From that time, things between us accelerated and took a very significant turn, as you are about to read.
On Friday, December 21, Wendy and I flew to New York City and got married in Central Park on Saturday afternoon in the Ladies Pavilion! That’s right, GOT MARRIED!!!
Exciting, wouldn’t you say?!!
Wendy and I were married by a US Coast Guard Chaplain, Captain M. Arnold. You’ll find a picture of the three of us on the boot camp blog. http://usmcfitnessbootcamp.com/blog/index.php
Let me confirm that nothing will change for you maggots reading this. I’m not moving off! All classes will continue to meet, just like always. I will continue to be mean and abusive, just like always. I will continue to call you names and give you no quarter to slack or take your leave in Turdeville!
Rejoice with us! We are deliriously happy … or maybe we’re just delirious! But we are most assuredly happy!! May I solicit your continued friendship, your prayers, and your continued money?!! Now that I’m a married man with a wife, I can’t afford to have you people quit on me!

HOLIDAY WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
Some of you guys are doing GREAT! Others of you … well … you need to get on the stick! Before you shove that next fat/calorie laden holiday snack down your pie hole, ask yourself this question: “What part of my body will this be applied to?” “Is this fuel for a hard charging, lean, mean boot campin’ machine? Or is it more rolls and blubber to burn off in 2008?”
Final weigh in is Thursday, January 3!

Don’t know what a hybrid workout is, just come and find out! Wear your running shoes and bring your weights!
LISTEN UP 0830 CLASS MEMBERS: Unless otherwise countermanded, the Tuesday/Thursday cardio classes are canceled until April 2008. HOWEVER, we WILL meet on Thursday, January 3 for a hybrid workout.

WHY ARE OUTDOOR WORKOUTS GOOD FOR YOU IN THE WINTER?
Q: Tony, why must we work out outside? You’d make more money and you’d have more recruits and you’d make more money and you’d have more recruits (see a theme?) if we worked out inside! So …how ’bout it?
A: Here are the five benefits of cold weather workouts!
1. Strengthens the immune system!
2. Naturally increases the body’s production of saratonin, a natural calming chemical in your body.
3. Increased calorie burn!
4. Runny noses keep the cooties from taking up residence inside your schnozz and making you sick.
5. Bragging rights! You get to tell your sissy “indoor” friends how tough you are!
* If I moved us inside, my Marine Corps buddies, including my Marine Corps son, would abuse me, harass me, and laugh at me. Plus, in shame, I’d have to remove the “USMC” from our name and replace it with USAF. hahahaha
What should you wear? Layers. Layer your clothes so that you can adjust your body temperature as you get warmed up.
One more thing to remember about our outdoor winter workouts: hydrate! Because we’re not hot and sweaty, like in the summer, we often don’t drink enough water in the winter time. So hydrate y’all!
