ETERNAL LIFE — Weekly Newsletter 9/27/07
“The average man, who does not know what to do with this life, wants another one which shall last forever.” ~ Anatole France
Have you ever been confounded by people who are intent on eternal life after they die, but who don’t know what to do with the one they’re presently living?
I won’t pretend to have the answers to life’s most perplexing questions. (I mean, I have difficulty deciding what to order at Old Venice.) For example, I don’t know where evil came from. (And don’t say, “Fort Smith, Arkansas!”) I don’t know how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. I don’t know if God can make a rock so big that He can’t move it. I don’t know why we can’t get affordable health care. I don’t know how to get out of Iraq.
But here are a couple of things I’m sure of.
This life isn’t a dress rehearsal. This is it!
The body you’ve got right now, is the only one you’re going to get! And it’s going to need LOTS of attention along the way!
Investing in people is wiser than investing in stuff.
I hope that today you’ll do an assessment of your life goals and priorities.
Watch the TV a little less, and talk to your family and friends a little more.
Give more than you get.
Serve more than you’re served.
Make new friends. (You don’t have too many friends already do you?)
Exercise, preferably with me! I need your fellowship AND your money! But mostly your fellowship.
Read. Learn. Explore. Dream. Move. Do. Be still.
For the love of all that is good and worthy, LIVE!!

HALF MARATHON TRAINING
We’ll be training this coming Saturday at 8 AM at Shelby Farms. It’s not too late to start!
We’ll train up until one week from the St. Jude’s Half Marathon on December 1. We train at a “5 minute ‘on,’ 1 minute ‘off’” routine. Meaning that we jog for 5 minutes at an 11minute 30 second per mile pace, and then walk for 1 minute. Then we repeat that for the total length of time for our run. This coming Saturday we’ll be going for 1hr. 50min total. Trust me, at that pace, it’s really doable.
The cost for the training is $75 for everyone!
Beginners are welcome! You can come this Saturday and give it a trial run for free.
**** If anyone would be interested in a one time long run this Sunday afternoon at 2, let me know ASAP. It would be the same as Saturday’s run of 1hr 50min at Shelby Farms. ****
